Terms of Service

The terms governing your use of this website and the booking of a Bougie Table dinner.

What we provide

Bougie Table arranges private dinners cooked by a chef in the host's own home or rented residence. Every course is prepared on site on the evening of the dinner using the host's kitchen. We do not prepare food off site, operate a commercial kitchen, or deliver prepared food.

The host provides a kitchen that meets the minimum we describe on the intake call (a working oven, two burners, and a sink), reasonable access and parking for the chef, and accurate information about guests' allergies and dietary needs.

Alcohol

We do not sell, supply, bundle, or charge for alcoholic beverages in any form and do not charge corkage or pouring fees. Any wine or spirits served at a dinner are purchased and provided by the host, who is responsible for lawful service to their guests. Our chefs may open and pour what the host has provided as a courtesy.

Booking, deposits, and payment

A dinner is confirmed when we have accepted your inquiry, you have approved a menu, and we have received the deposit. A 50 percent deposit holds the date. The balance is due seven days before the dinner, when the guest count locks.

All prices are stated before sales tax. Sales tax is charged at the rate applicable to the address where the dinner is served and is shown as a separate line on every quote and invoice. Gratuity is entirely at the host's discretion and is passed in full to the chef and assistant.

Prices shown on this website are current as of the date on this page and may change for future bookings; a confirmed booking is honoured at the quoted price.

Cancellations and changes

Full refund at 14 days or more. Inside 14 days the deposit is retained. Inside three days there is no refund, except that we will rebook the dinner within 60 days.

Guest counts lock seven days before the dinner. Increases after that date are accommodated where possible and billed at the per-guest rate; decreases after that date are not refunded.

If we must cancel for reasons within our control, you receive a full refund of all amounts paid. If a dinner cannot proceed for reasons outside anyone's control (severe weather, road closure, a utility failure in the host's kitchen), we will reschedule within 60 days at no additional charge.

Allergies and dietary information

We rely on the information the host gives us. Tell us about every allergy, intolerance, and preference on the inquiry form and confirm it on the intake call; our chefs cook in home kitchens that are not allergen-free environments and cannot guarantee the absence of any allergen. A written allergen card for each course is provided to the host before service.

Your home and our team

Our chefs treat your kitchen with care and leave it as they found it or cleaner. We carry general liability insurance. Please secure valuables and pets, and tell us about anything in the kitchen that needs special handling. You agree to provide a safe working environment for our team and to treat them with courtesy.

Photographs

We photograph a dinner only with the host's prior written consent, given on the booking agreement. Any guest may opt out. Photographs taken with consent may be used by Bougie Table and Backyard Bougie in their own marketing; guests' names and the dinner address are never published.

Gift cards

Gift cards are issued for a stated dollar amount, never expire, and carry no dormancy or service fees, as California law requires. They are redeemable toward any Bougie Table dinner and are not redeemable for cash except as required by law.

Use of this website

The content of this website, including text, photographs, the Bougie Table name and emblem, and the Backyard Bougie family marks, belongs to Backyard Bougie, Inc. and may not be copied or used without written permission. You agree not to use the site or its forms for any unlawful purpose or to submit false information.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by California law, our liability arising from a dinner or from use of this website is limited to the amount you paid for that dinner. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute is resolved in the state or federal courts located in El Dorado County, California, after a good-faith attempt to resolve it directly with us first.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the date at the top of this page tells you when. A confirmed booking is governed by the terms in effect when it was confirmed.
